Cotton is a series of closely connected essays on the plant. A few of them are of questionable relevance. For instance he dedicates a fair amount of space to a short of the history of the Blues on the grounds that there are some blues songs about Boll Weevils, and some blues musicians grew up on cotton farms. The section was interesting enough, but seemed out of place here.
