Detective Tom Hennessey cared. He cared enough to confront teacher Merritt Reed about his nephew's grades. He cared enough to notice the little things about Merritt that signaled a half-buried sorrow. Tom cared enough to try and heal Merritt's wounds--even if the process was painful for them both.

Tom Hennessey cared enough to risk his life daily for the citizens of Cincinnati. And that was just the problem, for Merritt had learned that you could trust a cop with your life--but not with your heart!
