John Green, autor de su primera novela, *Buscando a Alaska*, ganó el Premio Michael L. Printz 2006 otorgado por la Asociación Americana de Bibliotecas. Su segunda novela, *Un sinfín de Katherines*, fue Libro Destacado del Premio Michael L. Printz 2007 y finalista del Premio Libro del Los Angeles Times. Su siguiente novela, *Ciudades de papel*, es un éxito de ventas del New York Times y obtuvo el Premio Edgar Allan Poe a la mejor novela juvenil de misterio.
A partir de 2007, John y su hermano Hank fueron los anfitriones de un popular blog de internet, «Brotherhood 2.0» (también conocido como vlogbrothers), en el que analizaban a diario sus vidas, sus libros y la actualidad durante un año, excepto los fines de semana y los días festivos.
