Michael Laban Walzer (né le 3 mars 1935) est un théoricien politique américain de premier plan et un intellectuel engagé. Professeur émérite à l'Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) de Princeton, dans le New Jersey, il est également rédacteur en chef émérite de *Dissent*, une revue intellectuelle à laquelle il est associé depuis ses années d'études de premier cycle à l'université Brandeis.
Ses livres et essais portent sur un large éventail de sujets, pour la plupart relevant de l'éthique politique : guerres justes et injustes, nationalisme, ethnicité, sionisme, justice économique, critique sociale, radicalisme, tolérance et obligation politique. Il est aussi contributeur éditorial de *The New Republic*.
À ce jour, il a publié 27 livres et plus de 300 articles, essais et critiques de livres dans *Dissent*, *The New Republic*, *The New York Review of Books*, *The New Yorker*, *The New York Times*, *Harper's* ainsi que dans de nombreuses revues de philosophie et de science politique.
