Pale Fire review by Josh

Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov

Review by Josh80/100Read January 1, 2006

Reading Nabokov always makes me wish I were smarter because he makes you feel like there's something absolutely incredible under the (admittedly very nice) surface. This can be a pleasant feeling, but it can also be disappointing when you scratch the surface and find that what's underneath doesn't live up to what you had imagined (how could it?)

About the book

A 999 line poem in heroic couplets, divided into 4 cantos, was composed--according to Nabokov's fiction--by John Francis Shade, an obsessively methodical man, during the last 20 days of his life.
