Anthony Ryan est né en Écosse en 1970, mais il a passé une grande partie de sa vie d'adulte à vivre et à travailler à Londres. Après une longue carrière dans la fonction publique britannique, il s'est consacré à l'écriture à plein temps grâce au succès de son premier roman, Blood Song, premier tome de la trilogie L'Ombre du Corbeau. Titulaire d'un diplôme en histoire, il s'intéresse à l'art, aux sciences et à la quête sans fin de la pinte de bière artisanale parfaite.
