About BookSense
BookSense is a small, independent site for finding your next book. You tell it books you love, and it suggests four more you're likely to enjoy.
How picks are made
- An AI model reads the books you give it (and, if you've signed in, the books you've rated and the ones you said weren't for you) and suggests books with the same appeal.
- Every suggestion is checked against Open Library before it's shown, to make sure it's a real book by that author. Suggestions that can't be found are dropped.
- Nobody pays to be picked. Publishers and authors can't buy a place in the picks, the lists or the feed.
Where book information comes from
- Titles, authors, covers, publication dates and descriptions come from Open Library, the free catalog run by the Internet Archive.
- On the Spanish and French pages, descriptions written in another language are translated by AI.
- The most-read books also have a short "Who it's for" note. It's written by AI from the book's description only, and kept only if it's specific to that book.
- Reviews are written by readers. They appear only after they've been approved, and anyone can report one.
How BookSense makes money
- Buy links go to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, BookSense earns a small fee from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. It never changes which books are picked.
- There are no ads, and BookSense doesn't sell your data.
