About this book
Rayuela is the second novel by Argentine writer Julio Cortázar. Written in Paris and first published on June 28, 1963, it is one of the central works of the Latin American boom and of Spanish-language literature. It tells the story of its protagonist, Horacio Oliveira, and his relationship with "la Maga." The novel puts the reader's subjectivity into play and has multiple endings. The work is often called an "antinovel," although Cortázar himself preferred to call it a "counter-novel." With a total of 155 chapters, Rayuela can be read in several different ways.
