Getting started with BookSense

BookSense is book recommendations from a friend who's read everything. Here's how to get the most out of it.

  1. Start with a book you loved

Type a book into the search on the home page. One book opens its page; add a few and you get four picks, each with the reason it fits. On a book's page, “Find books like it” lets you say what you loved about it, and the picks follow that.

  2. Ask about any book

Every book page has an “Ask about it” chat: who's who, where a series starts, whether it's right for you. Tick “No spoilers” and it keeps the ending to itself.

  3. Browse lists and genres

Book lists for every mood and season, and genre pages with the books that define them.

  4. Keep track in My books

Save books you want to read, mark what you've read and score it out of 100. Your scores shape your picks, and “Not for me” keeps books like that one away. You can also set a reading goal for the year. Coming from Goodreads? Bring your whole library in one go.

  5. Read together in a book club

Start a club and invite friends: suggest books, vote on what to read next and talk about it as you go.
