About this book

On Monday, April 7, 2003, Camille Verhoeven, a commander with the Paris Crime Squad, is called to a crime scene in an abandoned industrial site in Courbevoie. Two women have been tortured, killed, and dismembered. It is a particularly horrifying and bewildering crime, carried out by a killer who has planned everything down to the smallest detail and who, it seems, knows Verhoeven well.

Our commander is a rather unusual figure: in his forties, bald as an egg, in love with Irène and soon to become a father. He is extremely short, standing 1.45 metres tall, so he sees the world from below. He is nothing like Rambo.

The cases entrusted to him are often out of the ordinary as well. Travail soigné, Alex, Rosy & John, Sacrifices: these are chilling thrillers that play with the codes of murderous madness, with a diabolical and unpredictable mechanism, plots whose appearances are deceptive, startling twists and a taut, nervous style.
