Marc Ferro (born in Paris on 24 December 1924, died in Maisons-Laffitte on 21 April 2021) was a French academic and historian. His research focused on early twentieth-century European history, particularly that of the USSR, as well as on the history of cinema. He served as director of studies in social sciences at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales and was co-editor of the journal *Annales*. He also produced and presented television documentaries on the rise of Nazism, the Romanov dynasty, Lenin and the Russian Revolution, and the portrayal of history on film.
